New Zealand team won the first test match again Pakistan by 101 runs today. Azhar Ali was dismissed for 38 after adding just four runs to his previous day’s score. Fawad Alam scored a century in Test cricket 11 years later, the second century of his career. His century included 14 fours. Fawad Alam had earlier scored a century against Sri Lanka in his Test debut in July 2009. A 165-run partnership was formed between Mohammad Rizwan and Fawad Alam, after which Mohammad Rizwan also hit a 60 off Jameson’s ball. BW out, Fawad Alam played a great innings of 102 runs and fell victim to Neil Wagner.
Yasir Shah returned to the pavilion without scoring a run while Faheem Ashraf was dismissed for 19. Muhammad Abbas’s resistance was limited to just one run. It is believed that New Zealand scored 431 in their first innings in response. The Pakistani team was bowled out for 239 in the first innings. The hosts declared the second innings at 180 for five and gave Pakistan a target of 374 for victory.
